Suspended License Offender’s Lecture (60-180 days)

If you attend this lecture, the period of suspension of your driver’s license can be shortened. The number of days to be reduced varies depending on your test results and attitude during the lecture.

Types of lectures, suspended period, and number of days to be reduced by attending the lecture

• Lecture for middle term of suspension
60-day suspension period can be shortened by up to 30 days.
• Lecture for long term of suspension
90-day suspension period can be shortened by up to 45 days.
120-day suspension period can be shortened by up to 60 days.
150-day suspension period can be shortened by up to 70 days.
180-day suspension period can be shortened by up to 80 days.

You must not drive during the suspension period. If you drive during the suspension period, your driving will be considered driving without driver’s license, and your driver’s license will be revoked.

You must attend the lecture for two consecutive days. If your 2nd day falls on Saturday, Sunday, or National Holiday, the 2nd day lecture will be held on the following business day.

Making an appointment for your lecture:

If you choose to attend the 1st day lecture on the same day as the designated day for execution of suspension or for a hearing, you do not need to make an appointment for the lecture.

If you choose to attend the lecture after the designated day for execution of suspension or for a hearing, you need to make an appointment beforehand.

You must attend the lecture for two consecutive days. Please arrange your schedule accordingly in advance.

Clothing and shoes

* You must wear clothes and shoes suitable for driving. You cannot attend the lecture if you are wearing sandals, high-heels or geta (wooden Japanese sandals),etc. If you attend the lecture for a motorcycle or moped license, please wear, suitable clothes such as a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, helmet, and gloves. Please bring a raincoat if it rains.

Returning your driver’s license

Those who have attended the lecture:Your driver’s license will be returned at the police station of the jurisdiction on and after the following day of the day when your suspension period ends (i.e., the date specified on the back side of the notification of Driver’s License Suspension).

Those who did not attend the lecture:

Your driver’s license will be returned at the police station of the jurisdiction on and after the following day of the day when your suspension period ends.

Note: The office hours of police stations are from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM, Monday through Friday, (offices are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, and Year-End and New-Year Holidays). Please receive your driver’s license during office hours. If you wish to receive your driver’s license outside office hours, you need to contact the traffic section of the police station of the jurisdiction beforehand to arrange the time and date.
