Moped (50cc motorcycle) Lecture

The Moped Lecture is for those who want to get a moped license. The certificate of attendance of the moped lecture is valid for one year.
Reception hours (application for the lecture):
Please apply for the lecture at the Counter for the Lecture located in the 1st floor of Driver’s License Center.
Monday – Friday (the office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, and Year-End and New-Year Holidays)
- Those who attend the lecture on the same day as the theory test for mopeds (after passing the theory test)
10:30 AM (instructions will be given after the announcement of those who passed the theory test) - Those who attend the lecture on another day after passing the theory test for mopeds

Those who are exempt from the lecture
The following people are exempt from this lecture:
- Those who obtained a Japanese driver’s license to operate a moped in the past, and their driver’s license has been expired for no more than 6 months.
- Those who had unavoidable reasons (those who fulfill the following conditions):
Those who obtained a Japanese driver’s license to operate a moped in the past, and their license has been expired for more than 6 months.
Unavoidable reasons occurred within 6 months from the expiration date of their license, and it has been one month or less since their unavoidable reasons ceased to exist. - Those who had a valid foreign driver’s license to operate a moped (those who fulfill the following conditions):
Those who had a valid foreign driver’s license to operate a moped within 6 months before the date of application for a Japanese driver’s license to operate a moped.
Those who stayed in the country where their foreign driver’s license to operate a moped had been issued for 3 months or more in total after the issuance of the foreign license. - Those who attended the Revoked License Offender’s Lecture (those who fulfill the following condition):
Those who attended the Revoked License Offender’s Lecture within one year before the date of application for a Japanese driver’s license to operate a moped. - Those who attended the Moped Lecture before (those who fulfill the following condition):
Those who attended the Moped Lecture outside the Kanagawa Prefecture within one year before the date of application for a Japanese driver’s license to operate a moped.
Remarks
Notes:
This lecture includes practicing driving skills of a moped. You must wear clothes and shoes suitable for driving. You cannot attend the lecture if you are wearing a skirt, sandals, high-heels or geta (wooden Japanese sandals), etc. Suitable clothes are a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers, helmet, and gloves, etc. Please bring a raincoat if it rains.
Those who have attended the Revoked License Offender’s Lecture need to bring the certificate of attendance of the lecture.
Those who have attended the Moped Lecture in another prefecture need to bring the certificate of attendance of the lecture.
Those who have their expired driver’s license (applicable to above-mentioned 1) need to bring their expired driver’s license.
Those whose Japanese driver’s license has been expired due to unavoidable reasons (applicable to above-mentioned 2) need to bring their expired driver’s license and a document that proves that they had unavoidable reasons, such as a passport with records of entry and exit, medical certificate, and certificate of whereabouts (e.g., a certificate of detention/ imprisonment).
Those who had a valid foreign driver’s license to operate a moped (applicable to above-mentioned 3) need to bring their foreign driver’s license with its Japanese translation and their passport with records of entry and exit.
Please understand that if the number of people who passed the theory test and who wish to attend the Moped Lecture on the same day as the theory test exceeds our capacity, you may be requested to attend the Moped Lecture on another day.
